Dynamics

The "get yourself someone who can do both", is a somewhat popular meme format.

For me this speaks to the general desirability of dynamic people. Having the tact and prudence to adapt appropriately to various environments and understand when to do it is a nuanced skill that not everyone shares. It is difficult, because “when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”.

The law of the instrument challenges us then to, not just acquire more tools, but to know how to use them properly. This also means that one must understand the task in order to choose the right tool for the job. Further, knowing what the ends are, or what is trying to be accomplished, becomes even more relevant.

To be dynamic is to be a multi-tiered thinker. Something that takes time, effort, and intent.
