Perfection

The idea of perfection is alluring. It insinuates there’s an end to the journey. Whatever path we’re on will be realized. Maybe it will be us that does it or someone in the distant future, but, either way, finitude brings many people comfort.

Perhaps feeling we can check off a knowledge box once and for all means no alarms or surprises. Perfection, then, equals peace to those that believe in it. Or maybe many that hope for peace see perfection as the answer. And if a person or group can convince everyone that knowledge about certain topics are perfect (aka complete), then there’s no need for the tension of criticism.

This is the stance of every ideologist. There’s “nothing to see here”, because it’s all been figured out. Any issues that arise are simply due to menacing little details that are tediously being filled in. As far as you’re concerned everything is practically perfect. No need for you to perspire over such monotonous calculations.
